The entourage culture comes with its own set of benefits and drawbacks: Seema Kapoor
In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap opened up about the entourage culture that exists in the industry and said that actors come with their own team of 7-8 people, and they are allowed to do it because he or she is the actor of the film. He further said that the entourage makes it a crowd; they are quite demanding, and it increases the cost too. Seema Kapoor, who has been part of shows like Hum Saath Aath Hai, Razia Sultan, and Udaariyaan, to name a few, says it has its own benefits and drawbacks.
She said, “The entourage culture comes with its own set of benefits and drawbacks. I personally feel that it aids the artist to be at ease, so that without any hassles, the artist can peacefully concentrate on her work, but if it leads to chaos for others, the actors responsible should manage it in an organized manner so that they don't disrupt the harmony of others.”
She believes that the cost factors should be clarified mutually between the artist and production before the beginning of the project. She also feels that making reels should be limited to certain hours so that it doesn't disturb the shoot.
As for her entourage, she said, “For me personally, I would prefer a driver, a spot boy, and an assistant for my comfort and not wrecking my brains on external factors. Yet many times I've worked even without any personal help and managed fairly. It all depends on the level of comfort provided by the production.”
